Reflection from “The National Day of Prayer” Committee

BRITANNICA DICTIONARY defines MEMORIAL as something that honors a person who has died or serves as a reminder of an event in which many people died and comes from the same root word as ‘memory’ or ‘remember’. This coming Monday, on Memorial Day (May 27, 2024), we remember those who laid down their lives in service to us and their country.

SINCE 1775, the United States of America has fought in 11 wars, and in those 11 wars, 1,304,705 Americans laid down their lives fighting for our rights and freedoms, and the rights and freedoms of others.
EVERY ONE of those men and women had family members and friends who grieved and mourned for them. Fathers, mothers, sons, and daughters whose lives were forever impacted by their loved one’s ultimate sacrifice.
JESUS TAUGHT us, and then demonstrated to us, the ultimate meaning of love when he laid down His life for you and me. Paul taught in his letter to the Romans ^“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners,
CHRIST DIED for us.” In the same way, the greatest act of love that a human being can show is…is that they willingly lay down their life for their friends.
DIVINE CALL MINISTRIES concurs with the National Day of Prayer Committee in prayer this Memorial Day season. Lifting heartfelt entreaty on behalf of the Service families in our communities and spheres of influence who have lost far too many precious loved ones in military service. Let’s reach out to them in love, to offer comfort, and let them know that we not only remember what their loved ones did, but to show appreciation for, and give honor to each service member for their sacrifice.

In the Words of Dion Elmore, V.P. National Day of Prayer Committee…Father God, we thank you for all of those who have served and sacrificed for our nation. We thank you, that because of their sacrifice, we have the freedoms we enjoy today. Ultimately, Lord Jesus, we thank You for the example that You set for us, and the true freedom that we all find in You.
May we as Your people always remember and never forget, how You demonstrated Your love toward us – ‘in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).’
It is in Jesus’ Name that we pray! Amen

Starting with America’s households of faith, born-again believers, those who love God and know Him by His inexhaustible Grace and Mercy. Believers must lead this intercession from sea to shining sea. Then, let each concerned American use this historic celebratory day as a day of personal reflection…And let’s all petition God to help our beloved America turn from her infidelity and the consequent slide into dark and endless seasons of distress and uncertainty.

OUR HEAVENLY FATHER IS ABLE. Ephesians 3:20 teaches that our Creator is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His *power that is at work within us. The *power given by God to stand in faith (faith God supplies) for America to thrive once more (Hebrews 11).

FURTHERMORE, Jehovah, the God of the Covenant, and Jesus Christ the Lord of Hosts STAND AT THE READY to engage in Heavenly combat for America against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this [present] darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) places (Ephesians 6:12-18).

HEAVENLY FATHER CREATOR OF ALL THINGS, HELP US WE PRAY – GODSPEED!!

LORD OF HOST, please don’t allow the sacrifices of so many men and women to be for naught…Many would be stirred from eternal rest if they could see the state of this great Nation in 2024 and how far we have strayed from the ideals they gave all for (to secure). SCRIPTURE TEACHES (Psalm 33:12) that “Blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom He has chosen as His own inheritance.”

THEREFORE we entreat You Lord, please send Your Holy Spirit to inhabit our land once more. Rouse us from our spiritual slumber; enliven us, convict us of our apostasy, revive our faith, and cause us to hunger for the Righteousness that is evidenced in changed lives and consistent fellowship with You. These prayers we lifted to the Throne of Grace for the sake of the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen, and Amen!!
